CNN anchor Jake Tapper asked a reporter who said “I don’t know what the next day will look like” if he could be on a team with the president.
The interview took place after Trump, who has frequently been critical of CNN, was criticized for not attending a White House briefing Thursday on the ongoing investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.
The president said at a Thursday news conference he would not attend, a decision that angered CNN, which has had to contend with multiple investigations into Russian meddling in the election.
Tapper said Trump’s tweet was not surprising, given the President’s long history of disparaging CNN.
Trump told reporters in the Oval Office on Thursday that the network is “a disgrace” and “dishonest.”
The President has repeatedly called CNN “fake news,” “dumb” and said the network does not have a “right” to report the news.
