However, a recent study from the US Department of Energy’s Argonne National Laboratory shows that, for the first time, the public is increasingly aware that cars should be made by those with a lot of money.
The study, “Doing Business With Cars” showed that more than 80% of respondents had made at least one purchase from a car company that sells cars in the past year, with more than two-thirds of the respondents reporting that they had made a purchase at least once.
The findings were reported by ABC News, which cited Argonne physicist J. Scott Gartner, who said that the research “is the first ever to examine the value of these sales to individuals, and the impact of these choices on the broader economy.”
“As the economic climate continues to deteriorate, consumers and businesses are becoming increasingly concerned about the costs and benefits of purchasing a vehicle and a business,” GartNER said.
“If you look at the bottom line, the consumer has made a very positive choice in choosing a car from a well-respected brand, and if the business is doing well, then people are making a much larger contribution to the economy than if they were to be purchasing a car and then being forced to do the hard work of rebuilding the car,” he added.
A few months ago, the Environmental Protection Agency issued new regulations that require new cars to have “airbags and seat belts” for every passenger and, in some cases, to require a certain level of insurance coverage.
